Meet Scout! This loyal German Shepherd is currently seeking a foster home to care for him while his owner is deployed in the Marines. He is currently located in Camp Lejeune, NC, and needs a home from October 1, 2022 through August 6, 2023. However, his owner is willing to transport him in order to ensure Scout is safe. Scout has been with his owner since he was 8 weeks old and is incredibly bonded to his family; his owner would be devastated to relinquish Scout to a shelter, however that is currently his only other option.

Fun Facts
Scout is seeking a foster who has a lot of patience, and who preferably has some knowledge or experience handling reactive dogs. Although not physically aggressive, he is occasionally triggered by unfamiliar sights or sounds. Scout has worked with dog trainers in the past, and now knows how to redirect his attention with proper intervention when this happens. Scout hopes that his future foster will be able to see past his fearful reactivity and appreciate him for the sweet and loving dog he is.
Scout’s owner describes him as being cat-like and independent; he will gladly snuggle when he is in the mood, but just as frequently he is content to simply chill on his own. Additionally, although he has a lot of energy, he is also an accommodating dog. He would love to run around in a fenced in back yard in his new foster home, but he will also happily play fetch indoors if that is what space he has access to. Scout will also respect any rules regarding furniture if you don’t want him on the couch.
He is good with cats and loves children. He is also friendly towards other dogs, but may require a slow introduction.
