Belle and Remi need a foster in VA!

Christopher is a member of the US Army preparing for a 9 month overseas assignment.  Christopher doesn’t have any family or friend who are willing and able to help out with his two dogs, Belle and Remi, while he’s overseas.  Remi and Belle will require a special foster with Heeler experience who can care for them from 2/1/2020-12/19/2020.

Remi is a 4 year old neutered male Blue Heeler mix.  Remi is up to date on his vaccinations.  Remi has separation anxiety, and will howl for a short time before settling down when his person has left the house.  Remi is a lower energy dog than his sister Belle.  He loves to cuddle with Christopher and play with Belle.  Christopher says, “Remi is just too dang adorable with some of the things he does. When you return home from work or running errands, he will greet you very excitedly by jumping up and down on you (even though he can’t jump very high; and he is a gentle jumper when jumping on you). Remi absolutely loves truck rides and is absolutely quiet on truck rides. He will not make a sound, but rather just curl up and sleep. When he does wake up on truck rides, he will stare at you with so much love and adoration, and look out the window with the most cute and intense serious focused face.”

Belle is a 2 year old spayed female Australian Red Heeler.  Belle is crate and leash trained and knows commands for sit, down, stay, leave it, and up.  Belle should not be housed with overly active or dominant dogs, or very young children.  As a working breed, she may try to “herd” small companions, and get herself in trouble.  Belle also has separation anxiety, and issues with resource guarding her person.  She requires a slow introduction to new people, and will require an experienced handler to exercise her and work with her every day.  Christopher says, “Belle is absolutely loyal to her person, and will be loyal to whoever is watching and caring for her. She is a goof ball when playing and running around in the yard and she gets those zoomies. She is absolutely a lover especially in a comfortable setting and loves your attention and to snuggle up against you. Loves playing fetch, loves to give kisses and loves belly rubs. She will roll all over you especially first thing in the morning to say good morning, now take me out..lol.”  Belle is currently enrolled with a dog trainer to work on her resource guarding and manners with people.
