Rachel is a member of the US Air Force and is preparing for extended training with will take her away from her West Point, UT home from 3/10/2020 – 5/31/2020. Rachel’s sister would normally watch over her dogs, Barney and Leo, during her deployments and training, but due to some family health issues she will not be available for these next two months. Rachel is hoping a PACT foster will have room in their hearts and home for her babies.
Barney is a 2 year old, 55 lbs, neutered male Golden Retriever. He is up to date on his vaccinations, leash trained, and knows commands for sit, stay, come, paw, and lay down. Barney is a quiet and calm dog. Rachel says he rarely barks, but sits on people to let them know he needs to go outside! He enjoys playing with dogs that match his lower energy level, and may run away or hide from higher energy dogs. Rachel says, “Barney is a lover. He is very receptive to the emotional issues of others. He can sense panic attacks or depression and he will put his head on your shoulder or lap and just breathe calmly. He loves face scratches.”
Leo is a 3 year old, 60 lbs, neutered male Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. He is up to date on his vaccinations, leash trained, and knows commands for sit, stay, quiet, paw, and come. Leo likes to chase cats, but would never harm one. He loves his brother Barney and can be a vocal player. He’s more of a “ladies’ dog” and take a little while to warm up to men. Rachel says, “Leo has been through a lot. His first family was not kind to him and left him neglected. When I first met Leo at the pound, he didn’t even look up. He stood in the center of his cage with his head hanging low and wasn’t barking or jumping like the dogs in the kennels next to him. He has had to learn to trust and to be loved. He has come a very long way.”
