Ashleigh is a member of the US Army Reserves and is preparing for a 14 month long overseas assignment set from 8/1/2020 – 10/1/2021.  Ashleigh’s original assignment was only supposed to be a few months, and after it was extended, the family that had originally offered to watch her pets backed out.  Ashleigh is now scrambling to find a foster home for her two dogs and one cat.  Preferably, she would love to keep them together, but Sammie, Sadie, and Senpai can be split up into different foster homes to keep them safe and out of the shelter. Ashleigh and her pets are currently at home in Roebuck, SC.

Sadie is a 5 year old, 75 lbs, spayed female shepherd mix.  She is microchipped, up to date on her vaccinations, flea/tick prevention (Nexgard,) and heartworm prevention.  Sadie is submissive and friendly with all dogs and does well with cats, but only has experience with adults.  She can be a puller on leash at first, but can settle into the rhythm of a walk.  She knows commands for sit, paw, stay, wait, come here, leave it, gentle, and off.  Ashleigh says, “Sadie is a very sweet girl. She looks intimidating but is very quiet. If I’m needing to judge an unknown dog, she’s the one I use since she’s not aggressive. If she’s feeling especially needy, she will slowly get up onto the couch and lay on you. She knows to stand by the door if she needs to go potty. She is a very quick learner.”

Sammie is a 2 year old, 70 lbs, neutered male Australian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix.  He is microchipped and up to date on his vaccinations, flea/tick prevention (Nexgard,) and heartworm prevention.  Sammie walks well on leash and knows commands for sit, down, paw, gentle, off, leave it, wait.  Sammie prefers the company of Sadie and Senpai to other animals, but has lived with other dogs that visit Ashleigh’s home previously.  Ashleigh says that Sammie can be territorial with a new dog at first, and should be fed separately at meal times as he guards his food.  Ashleigh says, “Sammie is very derpy and loving. If I give attention to my other dog, he comes and wants attention as well. He will sit for any attention. If you look at him, he’ll start wagging his tail. He will place is head on your lap if you’re eating or will place his head on the bed and give puppy eyes if he wants to lay on the bed.”

Senpai is a 5 year old, 10 lbs, neutered male domestic short haired black cat.  He is up to date on his vaccinations and flea/tick prevention (Advantage Cat.)  Senpai can be shy at first, but when he warms up he will always want to be near you, if not directly on your lap.  Senpai may scratch furniture if his scratching post is not made available to him, but is good about using his post when it’s there.  Ashleigh says, “If he’s feeling needy, he will knead on or near you and lay in your lap. He likes to sit on your lap when you’re using the bathroom. He likes to lay on my chest at night.”
