Lillian and her husband are a US Marines family who just received orders for an overseas assignment. This will take them away from their Jacksonville, NC, home for the next 2 years. Lillian and Skyler originally planned to bring both of their dogs overseas with them, but recently found out that their dog, Tessa, is a breed-restricted pet in their destination country. Tessa will need a foster from 11/01/2020 – 11/20/2022.
Tessa is a 2 year old, 50 lbs, spayed female English bull terrier mix. She is microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick prevention, and heartworm prevention. Tessa is a recent obedience training graduate: she is crate and leash trained, and knows commands for sit, stay, down, off, place, gentle (for taking treats nicely,) and she’s working on quiet. Tessa has a voice and she knows how to use it! Typically to alert to a newcomer to the house, or for the first few minutes of being put in her crate. Tessa does well with other friendly dogs, and loves to play and go on walks. She can climb or jump a regular chain link fence, so please give this girl plenty of supervision in the backyard. Tessa can be a bit of a chewer unsupervised in the home (her favorites are blankets and garbage) so Lillian and Skyler always crate her at night and when they go to work during the day. Lillian says, “Tessa has so many special qualities! She has a very big personality and can be such a goof. She loves playing and running with other dogs and making new doggy friends! She is OBSESSED with food which makes her very food motivated which is nice when working on training or having her do something (i.e. baths, nail trims, etc.). Our favorite thing is that she loves to go under the covers whenever cuddling in bed or on the couch for naps and it’s so cute!”
