Brian is a US military veteran in Champlin, MN, who will be seeking in-patient treatment for PTSD sustained during service through the next 6 months, from 10/8/2020 – 3/30/2021. In order to get the life-saving treatment Brian needs, he would need to find a place for his dog, Emmie, who he’s had since she was a little puppy. PACT is hoping to find a great foster to support Brian and Emmie during this difficult time, and keep Emmie safe and loved while Brian gets the treatment he needs.
Emmie is a 7 year old, 45 lbs, spayed female mixed breed pup. She is microchipped and up to date on her vaccinations and parasite preventatives. Emmie has experience living with cats and kids, and does great with both! She was attacked by another dog on a walk several years ago, and because of that experience can be very fearful and is sometimes leash reactive when seeing another dog on a walk. Brian has told us that Emmie can be friends with another dog in the home, but a slow introduction over several days/weeks may be required to safely integrate Emmie with another dog – then they can be best friends. Emmie is crate and leash trained and knows commands for sit, stay, heel, shake, and lay down. Brian says, “She gets to know your mood and is always trying to cheer you up. She can be very high-energy right when you get home, but calms down quickly and shows so much love.”
