Will is a member of the US Army and is preparing for an 11 month overseas assignment from 7/1/2021 – 5/31/2022. Will and his family will be moving to a very remote part of the world, and they worry that their family dog, Boomer, would be too stressed on the journey. Will is hoping that there is a great foster family for Boomer near their current home in Baltimore, MD, or near their extended family in New England.
Boomer is a 6 year old, 80lbs, neutered male Yellow Labrador Retriever. Boomer is microchipped, up to date on his vaccinations, flea/tick prevention, and heartworm prevention. Boomer is crate and leash trained and knows commands for sit, lay down, and roll over. Boomer is very food motivated and will need a foster who can keep him on his regular feeding schedule and make sure any tempting person food items are out of his reach. Boomer is so treat motivated that Will says he’ll rush through all of his tricks in rapid fire so that he can get his treat faster! Boomer is great with kids, and though he hasn’t lived with other dogs or cats, Alison believes that he would not have any issues adjusting to a home with other pets. Will says, “Boomer is just a goofball. He likes to cuddle, play, but also nap. The ideal family would honestly be a single person who may want to experience living with a dog but not sure they want to for 10+ years. Boomer is a great way to experience the fun elements of a dog without the puppy training.”
