Fun Facts:
Riker was born in the Caribbean where his mom found him among the rubble, fed him for a few days, took him to a shelter, but went to get him a few days later, having fallen in love with him. Being a service dog, he is very chill, goes with the flow and everyone who meets him falls in love with him. He’s a big snuggler and cuddler and a fabulous sleeping buddy; mom says he can get very “up close and personal” with the people he loves, shoving his head into their neck or using your head as a pillow when napping. His very fav thing in the whole world is to get butt scratches and he even figured out a way to use the bottom of a hammock to give himself butt rubs, lol.

He grunts when he’s happy, enjoys the dog park, doggie daycare, long & short walks BUT he also enjoys being lazy. Mom says that while he loves to play, his stubby legs eventually tire out before his will does. He can ‘hold it in’ for up to 16 hrs., despising the idea of pottying in the house. He can definitely be He usually has a stuffed he takes with him everywhere; we aren’t sure if he just needs a job and something to protect all the time, or if it anxiety, but once he picks that toy, he should not be separated from it (he will share it, but just needs to know its whereabouts).

Due to the circumstances of his owner, Riker has found himself in not such great accommodations right now and really needs to get into a foster home ASAP. At the very least, he has developed anxiety being apart from his owner and apparently had a conflict with another pet, causing the shelter to put this mild-mannered dog on anxiety meds to reduce his stress. Mom reiterates that Riker is not an aggressive dog so something about this situation is upsetting to him.
