CESAR FUN FACTS:

Mom says Cesar is a “well-rounded dog.” He enjoys people, dogs of all sizes, cats, car rides, water, boats (he wears a life-vest), and his crate. He doesn’t like cigarettes, and if you light up near him, he’ll give you a look filled with disdain. You’ve been warned.

Cesar is pretty chill and spends his days sleeping (his bed/your sofa or bed) or walking about the house. He loves to play with other dogs and sniff outside. For exercise, he only goes on short walks now. He is not and never was into hiking (PLEASE!) Cesar isn’t into toys unless it’s his laser light, and then he’s all OMG OMG!!!!! And there is a funny routine you must abide by once he’s done chasing the light – before mom can put it away, she holds it out to him, and he ever so gently reaches out and bites the device; this tiny action is meant to indicate that Cesar has “accomplished his mission” with the light and then he walks away.

He’s also pretty spoiled and bright: You can ask him, “What do you want? Show me!” and depending on the circumstances, he may either walk over to his food bowl wanting to eat, walk towards the bed to take a nap or even walk towards the door to indicate he has to go potty! He knows how to do the “Army Crawl” just like his mom and knows a couple of other commands like “Wait” or “Rollover.”

His foster can feel comfortable crating Cesar during the day or letting him lounge around the house- He is currently left alone for over 12 hrs./day and doesn’t have any accidents (unless he’s sick). He doesn’t get into the trash can, but if there is a bag of trash at his level, yes, he would enjoy exploring that. He takes one pill in his am food and gobbles it up, so no worries.

Cesar used to be BFFs with the owner’s former cat, and they would sleep together. The cat even chased him around the house. Cesar also sleeps with a young child whenever he stays at a friend’s house; he is great with kids. He has spent time with tiny dogs and big dogs, so no concerns there either. Regarding the dog park, Cesar enjoys the ‘social aspect’ of the park, meeting new dogs, but he doesn’t know exactly how to play with a group of dogs, so he’s a little odd in that sense. The only other thing his owner wants a potential foster to know is that, on occasion, Cesar can let out a huge ‘bear growl’ that has been known to give other dogs a pause; however, he doesn’t follow it up with any kind of aggressive behavior and in the 11 years mom has had him, she has never been able to figure out what he’s trying to say by it.
