Saphira needs a foster in FL!

John is a member of the US Navy. John and his family recently received orders to change bases, and will be leaving their Jacksonville, FL, home for an overseas location. Little did they know they would be breaking their hearts in the process, as airlines are allowing all of their pets except for sweet Saphira, their loving pit bull terrier. The family is desperate to find a temporary home for Saphira until they can return for her, from 9/15/2019 – 7/15/2021.

Saphira is a 7 year old spayed female pit bull terrier. She is about 45lbs, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccinations, flea/tick medication, and heartworm prevention. Saphira is great with other dogs and cats, but can be afraid of children that dart at her. Saphira is very submissive and tends to run and hide from kids that run at her.

John and Marissa are devastated that they have to leave Saphira stateside. Here’s what they had to say about this special girl: “There are so many amazing and adorable things about Saphi. She does “zoomies” when she gets excited, and spins in circles really fast. She nurtures “her” chihuahua and kitty, who are her best friends. She is very maternal. She wiggles around on her back with her legs in the air and snorts. She likes to act dramatic if we don’t acknowledge her, and she’ll throw herself on the floor like a toddler (but in a cute way). Saphi resembles a manatee, and we often tell her so. She has floppy ears, and a wrinkly forehead that bunches up when you talk to her in a baby voice. She will snuggle anytime of the day or night, she doesn’t discriminate. She has big golden eyes that she uses to guilt you into things. She loves belly rubs and any kind of attention. She loves playing with other dogs, but they sometimes beat her up because she’s very submissive. She’s a couch potato and prefers to lounge around, but will be active when she wants to. She is a big baby and we love her with our whole hearts. She has a goofy personality and makes us laugh on a daily basis. When it thunders, she prefers to be in her “thunder cave” which is just her crate with a blanket thrown over it for darkness. Saphi would love a foster family/parent that can spend quality time with her on a daily basis. She is very maternal, so would love to have another critter in the home. I think this would help with loneliness, since she is used to having her chihuahua and kitty. She does not have much experience with children, and has flinched from little kids that move too quickly or lunge at her. As long as she has a place on the floor or couch, she’s happy. She would be good for person of any activity level. She will go on adventures, or just lay around with you all day.”
