Michelle is a citizen in Mill Spring, NC who is looking for a temporary foster for her dogs, Sawyer and Rosie from 7/31/2020 – 12/31/2020 while she recovers from medical treatment.
Sammy is a 5 year old, 85 lbs, neutered male Australian shepherd mix. He is microchipped, up to date on his vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Sammy is housebroken, knows commands for sit, down, and dinner! Sammy loves to play tag, fetch, and frisbee. He is great with Michelle’s 4 year old granddaughter, and happily played dress up with her all day long. Sammy may snatch used tissues out of the bathroom trashcan to rip up. He’s not a big fan of car rides, but he does love to hike and take walks with Michelle.
Reba is a 7 year old, 75 lbs, spayed female English pointer mix. She is microchipped and up to date on her vaccinations and flea/tick prevention. Reba is also great with kids, and does well with other friendly dogs. She can be slow to make friends as she gauges the intentions of a new dog – she was bitten by a strange dog in the past and that has made her more wary. She is typically fine after an introduction. Michelle says, “Reba is like having a person around. She is very intuitive and gentle when she needs to be. You can tell her to take care of the house, be in charge when away, or just let her be a dog. She goes to bed at 8:00 and wants to be told its okay to sleep on the bed. She watches out for our other companion dog, and even leash walking she makes sure he’s following along. She will show me what she wants when I ask her “show me” including going into another room for a toy or treat. When barking, I can ask her “show me” and she will go to the window to look out where she was. You only need to tell her once – she gets it.”
