Elizabeth is a member of the US Air Force and will be on an overseas assignment from 10/15/2021 – 11/30/2022. Elizabeth’s parents are older and her friends have military commitments as well, so she is hoping to find a PACT family to care for her dogs, Eris and Rally, near their home in Warrensburg, MO.
Eris is a 5 year old, 65 lbs, spayed female Australian Cattle Dog mix. She is up to date on her vaccinations, flea/tick prevention, and heartworm prevention. Eris has an auto-immune condition that is managed with daily OTC medications that will be provided to her foster. Eris is friendly with all animals and people. She may be tempted to chew on blankets or papers if left on the floor in her reach. Eris loves to walk and does tend to pull on leash. She knows commands for sit. Elizabeth says, “Eris, named for the goddess of discord, and once you get to know her, it fits. She’s a good dog, just very full of energy so sometimes she can get a little goofy. She will not get on furniture, but she wants desperately to sit in your lap when she settles down. She will push her whole body on you, but her back feet will always remain on the floor. She loves to play with my older dog and rough house a little with me (always gentle), but still doesn’t understand toys (she was a stray before I adopted her.)”
Rally is an 11 year old, 70 lbs, neutered male yellow labrador mix. Rally is up to date on his vaccinations, flea/tick prevention, and heartworm prevention. Rally has a variety of food allergies, and will have prescription food delivered to his foster home. Rally is deaf, and is easily frightened by energetic dogs or young children. Rally is a great dog who loves to play fetch in the yard and snuggle up with his person at night. Elizabeth says, “Rally is deaf, he was adopted from Honduras (one of my deployments.) His favorite toys are empty cardboard boxes (like cereal boxes.) He will be standoffish at first but once he gets to know you, you will be his favorite person, especially if you have treats. The perfect foster for Rally would be one without kids or older, calm kids only. Someone who will play fetch! Home often is a plus, but he is used to me being gone during the day. The big thing is patience as he is older, deaf, and set in his ways.”
