Kaci is a member of the US Air Force who is preparing for an overseas assignment for the next 12 months, from 6/15/2021 – 6/30/2022.  Kaci had a friend lined up to watch over her dog, Apollo, but unfortunately due to a sudden medical issue they are no longer able to help her.  Apollo needs a great PACT foster near their home in Hopkinsville, KY.

Apollo is a 3 year old, 50 lbs, neutered male Siberian Husky.  Apollo is microchipped, up to date on his vaccinations, and flea/tick prevention.  Apollo is kennel trained – but he really wishes he weren’t!  Apollo will howl in his kennel, and though Kaci has been working with him on this bad habit, he still voices his displeasure.  Apollo does best with a chew toy or a filled Kong in his kennel with him, and he should be kenneled when not supervised.  Kaci says that Apollo is the typical husky: extremely smart, curious, and he needs a strong leader in the home.  Apollo is described as being less hyper than the usual husky, and he knows commands for sit, down, shake, speak, and dance.  Kaci runs Apollo through his commands every night to keep him sharp.  Apollo does well with kids and dogs, but should not be housed with cats.  He will jump a fence in the backyard if he’s not being supervised.  Kaci says, “My husky has icy blue eyes, he is very flexible and sometimes throws his head far backwards to look at you, he “talks” to you sometimes and does a little play growl (I promise it’s not aggressive), and what makes him special to me is that he is so empathetic. There have been times I have cried and he will cuddle up to me, lick my face and his own face appears as if he crying with his ears down. He may be a handful, but he is a very sweet and loving husky.  His perfect foster would be a family without cats, but other dogs are fine. A family that knows how huskies are and they are committed to taking proper care of them while still being capable of keeping him in check using a firm voice sometimes. A family that a compassionate and understanding. A family that will not leave my dog unattended in his kennel for long hours.”
