Happy-go-lucky Caliber’s owner is deploying overseas with the Army for 13 months. She has unfortunately exhausted all options of care for Caliber and needs someone to give him a safe, secure home until they can be reunited.

He is looking for a place to stay from January 5, 2023 – January 12, 2024. Currently located in Fort Stewart, GA, Caliber’s owner is willing to transport him anywhere in order to avoid having to part with this cherished member of her family.

Fun Facts

3-year-old Caliber is a total joy to be around – “He’s just happy to be here, and never has a bad day,” says his owner. True to his Lab-Golden mix qualities, he’s happy-go-lucky, loving, and intelligent.

Caliber’s owner says he is her heart and is very concerned for his well-being. She is hoping to find him a foster home where he feels loved. He would be great with a person or family who will keep him active, throwing him the ball and taking him places, like on walks, hikes, and to the beach.

Caliber is a good mix of affectionate, playful, and relaxed and his owner says he is incredibly loyal and intuitive. If you are having a bad day or even sneezing or coughing, he is concerned and wants to be by your side.

Caliber loves people, including children, and even goes to work with his owner sometimes. He loves to see everyone and will ‘give hugs’ if you let him. He is well-mannered and knows his commands like “sit,” “stay,” down,” and is always gentle when taking treats. He is great with other animals, including his cat sibling, and spends time staying at a relative’s home where chickens and rabbits are present. He is interested in them but respectful.

Caliber has good leash manners and is crate-trained, but is only crated when his owner isn’t home, out of the abundance of caution – he does not need to be. He loves rope toys and chewing on antlers and hooves. He’s a super-toy-chewer, so stuffies aren’t tough enough for him, but thankfully he knows the difference between what’s a toy and what isn’t and is not destructive.
